Year Fours Page 2009/2010

Year4 this year is taken by Ms.Pointon, who was with us as a supply teacher for a but and was so nice we decided to keep her. She takes her class with the help of Mrs.Baron.

Year Four's Page

Year4 is home to Miss.Wallbank this year, she takes a break from year6 and moves to year4 for a new set of challenges. (apparently 'bored of year6 after two years isn't allowed as a comment', so shhh I didn't say it)

African Drumming - November 2006
All November (and some of October, to be truthful) Y4 had been visited by some authentic African drummers in the afternoons to learn about African culture, but specifically to listen to the drums (the rest of the school can't help but listen either) and choreograph a dance to go with the beats - this dance was performed at 'African Music Night' on 23rd November, at the Grand Theatre Blackpool.

Science - September 2006
In Science we have been looking at electric circuits. We looked at how they work, what goes into them and how we can stop them from working (for when we are finished but don't want to break the circuit apart.)

An electric circuit needs:
wires
a battery
'a device'

The device for us was either a bulb, to produce light, or a motor, for movement. Sometimes we added a switch too so that we could turn things on and off without taking everything apart.

We made simple circuits with just a bulb battery and wires, these stayed on until they were taken apart. We also made some circuits with a motor and attached propelor to make a crude fan. Split pins and a paperclip were used to form a switch, which could be used to turn our circuits on and off. Here is our 'fan' circuit working.
Oooh feel the cooling breeze :-)

Ict/Literacy - September 2006

ICT - November / December 2005
This half term yearFour have been editing images with our paint package and imitating some artists style of working.

Our final piece of work was to imitate the style of AndyWarhol, by using one base image and making it look different in several other versions.

We used our own faces and 'The King', who was supposed to be royal but Mr.Dobbert misinterpreted the request and took as Elvis.
