 Year
Six goes back upstairs this year and following it is Miss.Smith. She is
staying our year6 class'es teacher for consistency in their SATS year
(and because only she knows all their names).
Summer 2007 - History/Art/Design
The
Beatles
The
history project in the summer term is all about the band 'The Beatles'.
Yes its been long enough to be considered 'history' now! We learn all
about the band members and have a listen to all of their songs. The class
has also been re-creating some of their famous album covers during art.

Moving
Toys
At the end of the year when there is time available to worry about things
other than SATs Y6 spend some time making 'moving toys'. They use their
skills in circuit making as well as art and design to make a piece of
work that will move on its own, but with a unique theme individual to
the child. MORE
Spring
2007 - ICT
We are making a digital video as part of Blackpool's annual D.M.P.
(digital media project) that will eventually be shown at the Odeon cinema
Blackpool to our junior movie-makers and the equivalent children from
other schools in Blackpool. MORE
November
2006 - ICT
During ICT this year we have to put together a live-action video to show
in our local Odeon, as a nice pre-requisite to that we have been putting
together short stories made with single pitures and some narration over
the top. The pictures were taken using our digital cameras and toys that
the children brought into school and the voice overs were done with Windows
MovieMaker (think i-Movie if your a Mac person).

The
Giants Causeway |
This half term
have been learning about the 'fictional' Giant Finn McCool. Who
legend has it is responsible for the Isle
of Man, Lough Neagh
and The Giant's
Causeway in Ireland. He 'made' the Isle of Man by throwing a chunk of
land at another giant, but missed and it landed in the Irish Sea, hence
the Isle of Man. The Giant's Causeway is what remains of a series of stepping
stones accross the sea as a method for another giant to come and fight Finn
(he didn't want to swim), but the actual stepping stones were removed as
the giant fled from Finn pretending to be a baby, on the basis that if a
baby is giant-sized how big will an actual giant be?
Year
6 have been doing paper based work about the antics of the Giant, but
also making models of what they imagined he'd look like.
Here are some of our favourites, well the 1st 6 on the camera really-
I couldn't think of a fair way to choose otherwise!

This
little guy also appeared in the same batch as the giants, I've been calling
him Mike, though he's called 'Duckie' officially I'm told.
